One of my greatest fears,
That goes undiagnosed,
Through tremblings,
And blank unannounced stares,
In the thunderous nights,
Where climax,
Begets the terror,
That you’ll run far away from me,
When you taste life’s stale bitter beer upon my lips.

When I grip sweat soak sheets at night,
And escape to a land,
Where only my eyes have shown you,
Will you hold me into a collapse ball?
Waiting for time to release me,
As my breath labors into a whimper?

Or will you depart as the others before you?
Who wanted to love a soldier,
But found love wasn’t a superhero,
That rescued the ones who were broken,
Beneath a callous exterior?
