What is love,
If there’s no chance of burning?
What is lust,
If there’s no chance of yearning?
And what is life?
If there’s no chance of learning?
What is strife,
If there’s no chance of earning?
What is love,
If there’s no chance of burning?
What is lust,
If there’s no chance of yearning?
And what is life?
If there’s no chance of learning?
What is strife,
If there’s no chance of earning?
I prefer love over lust, for love is a choice.
But what is really love and lust? I think in life we get these mixed up far too often.
I believe a lot of people mistake lust for love. Lust is uncontrollable, rash, passionate, and like a storm out at sea. Love on the other hand is demanding, thankless, and often frustrating. It’s more like a run uphill. š
And do we sometimes say we love things or someone when we really lust after them because we don’t want to deal with our own selfish emotions?
It’s hard to say of course, but my definition of love, as well as I can summarize it, is when something is vitally important to you but also not needed. That makes it even more complicated though because a TON of relationships are based on needs.
The problem with needs though is that they change.
That’s a great thought. I have really worked on not needing, but wanting, and also knowing things change. Some look to others for validation, and I think that’s what love has turned into these days. A selfish act.
